About this game

Count animals, from 1 to 6, then type their number on the keyboard. Just for practice, with no grade.

Write the numbers to 6 after counting a collection

Counting a collection, then writing the numbers to 6: that is a big step in the last year of preschool. The child moves from the quantity to the written number. They no longer just recognize a number, they produce it themselves. This step prepares for writing numbers in first grade.

Each game has five questions. A voice reads the instruction: “Count the animals. Then write how many there are.” Next, the child counts 1 to 6 animals, then types the number on the keyboard. Here, nothing counts as a grade: the child practices freely. A progress bar keeps them company until the end.

At home, suggest the same gesture on paper. For example, put four bottle caps on the table. The child counts them, then draws the 4 on a slate. Then change the quantity and start again. This way, they learn to write the numbers to 6 with their hand as well as on the screen.

This game suits children aged 5 to 6, in the last year of preschool. It is free on computer, tablet and phone.

Tip for writing the right number

First, put your finger on an animal. Say “one”. Then move on to the next one and say “two”. Touch each animal only once. When you have finished, listen to the last number you said. Next, find that number on the keyboard. Finally, write it. If you are not sure, start again slowly from the beginning.
