About this game

Some numbers are missing from the line from 1 to 5: put them back in place, then read the whole line again.

Complete the number line to 5 and read it all again

The number line puts numbers in order, one box for each. Completing the number line to 5 means finding which number comes after another. The child thus reviews the number sequence from 1 to 5. This sequence will then be used to count, to add one, to go back one.

In each question, some boxes on the line are empty. The child puts the missing numbers back in place. Then they read all the numbers again, from the first to the last. The hint advises them to count from the first box, one number per box. The round has five questions. If the line is partly right, they keep some points.

To review, make a paper strip with five boxes. Then write the numbers on clothespins. For example, take two away and ask your child to put them back. Also have them complete the number line to 5 backwards, from five to one.

The game is for the last year of preschool, around ages 5 and 6. It is free online, on a computer, tablet or phone.

Tip for completing the number line

Put your finger on the first box. Say its number. Then move forward one box and say the next number. Do you land on an empty box? Then write the number you just said. Keep going to the end of the line. Finally, read all the numbers again, from the first to the last: one, two, three, four, five.
