The assessment: count up to 3 very different objects, some never seen before, without help. The full result appears at the end.
This game is the assessment of small quantities. Counting objects up to 3 means finding how many there are, whatever the objects. To do this, the game shows 18 kinds of objects. Half of them appear in no earlier game: butterfly, fish, banana, strawberry, carrot, lemon, pineapple, hamburger, milk. This way, we measure the quantity understood, not the memory of a picture.
The game has five questions. A voice reads the instruction: “Choose the picture that shows 2”, for example. During the game, the child gets no help. Then, at the end, a full result appears. It shows each answer: right, partly right or to review.
This assessment guides what comes next. If the child succeeds, they can move on to the numbers 4 and 5. If not, go back to real objects: three strawberries, two carrots, one lemon. Then ask them to count the objects up to 3 by touching them, then to show the right number of fingers.
The game is for preschoolers aged 3 to 5. It is free online, on computer, tablet or phone.
You will see new objects: a pineapple, a lemon, a fish… That’s OK! A pineapple is counted just like an apple. First listen to the number the voice says. Then hold up as many fingers. Next, look for the picture that has as many objects as your fingers. Finally, choose it. Take your time, it’s not a race.
