About this game

Practise counting marbles arranged like the dots on a dice, up to 10, then touch the right number. Just for practice.

Count the marbles to 10: five, then five and more

Here, the child learns to count the marbles to 10 thanks to the way they are arranged. The marbles form dice patterns: five, then five and a few more. This way, eight marbles read as “five and three”. Breaking numbers down around five helps a lot in the last year of preschool, because the child does not have to count everything again.

Each game has five questions. First, a voice reads the instruction. Then the child counts the marbles and chooses the right number. It is free practice: nothing is recorded as a grade. A progress bar keeps them company until the end.

To go further, use real marbles or counters. For example, make a row of five, then add two underneath. Ask: “How many altogether?” Then let your child check by touching each marble once. Also show them the hand with five fingers as another landmark. This way, they get faster. Finally, vary the arrangements so that they do not memorise a single picture.

This game is for children aged 5 to 6, in the last year of preschool. It is free on computer, tablet and phone.

Tip for seeing five at a glance

Look carefully: the marbles are like the dots on a dice. When you see five marbles together, say “five” straight away. Then carry on with the others: six, seven… Touch each marble only once. The last number tells how many there are. Finally, choose the right number.
