Children doing sports: for each one, choose the stick figure that has the same pose.
A stick figure is a person drawn with just a few lines: a circle for the head, lines for the arms and legs. It has no color and no details. Yet it keeps the person’s pose. To match a picture to its stick figure, the child sets the colors aside and looks at the position of the body. This careful observation can be practiced all through preschool, from ages 3 to 6.
In this game, children are doing sports: a soccer player, a swimmer, a boxer… Your child looks at each athlete, then chooses the stick figure with the same pose. The hint suggests looking at the head, the arms and the legs. Then a sentence confirms the answer. A round has five questions, read aloud.
Before playing, strike a sports pose together: arms up, one leg bent… Then draw that figure with a few lines on a sheet of paper. This way, your child sees how a picture and its stick figure go together: the drawing does the same as the person, raised arms included.
Next, switch roles: your child draws a pose in a few lines, and you copy it with your body. What’s more, a few sticks laid on the table make a stick figure without a pencil. The game is free on a computer, tablet or phone.
First, look at the athlete. Where is the head? And the arms? And the legs? Point to them with your finger. Then look at each stick figure. Find the one that holds its arms and legs the same way. The stick figure has only a few lines, but it copies the pose. Are the arms up or down? Is a leg bent? Check, then choose!
