Number order up to 20

Mastering number order up to 20 means moving along the sequence in both directions. In the first year of primary school, finding the next number seems easy. The number before, however, takes more effort. Yet it prepares the countdown and subtraction.

This review game mixes both questions. Sometimes the child writes the number that comes just after, sometimes the one that comes just before. The game reads each instruction out loud. So the child has to listen carefully for the word “before” or “after”. A game has 8 questions, with a progress bar.

For the number before, the hint advises counting from one up to the written number. The number said just before it is the answer: it is one less. At home, count down from 20 to 0 together, like a rocket. For example, climb up and then down a staircase while saying the numbers.
