About this game

Count the objects in two grids and write the answer to the addition, up to 10. Just for practice, with no grade.

Picture addition up to 10: two grids, one total

In the first year of primary school, additions up to 10 first rely on objects the child can see. This way, they can practice picture addition up to 10 before calculating without help. They understand that the total puts two groups together. What’s more, they learn to count on from the first group.

Each question shows two grids of boxes with objects. The child counts both groups, then writes the total in digits. The game reads the instruction aloud. A round has 8 questions, with a progress bar. It is free practice: nothing goes up to the dashboard.

The hint advises counting the left grid first. Then the child keeps going with the right grid, without starting again from one. At home, take two empty egg cartons. For example, put bottle caps in each one, then have your child count them all. Finally, write the addition, such as 4 + 3 = 7.

This game is for the first year of primary school, for children aged 6 to 7. It makes picture addition up to 10 a calm practice. It is free on a computer, tablet or phone.

Tip for picture addition up to 10

First, count the objects in the left grid. Keep that number in your head. Then keep counting with the right grid. For example: four… five, six, seven! The last number you say is the total. You can touch each object with your finger so you don’t miss any. Finally, type the total.
