Pictures to touch to recognize the quantity two: dots, ladybugs, fingers and apples.
Two is the first real collection a child meets. Two eyes, two hands, two shoes: our bodies and our clothes often come in pairs. So recognizing the number 2 means understanding that two objects make a whole, different from a single object. It is also the moment when the counting rhyme “one, two” starts to make sense.
The game uses the same pictures as for one: dots, ladybugs, fingers and apples. Only the quantity changes, and the child notices it. For each of the five questions, a voice reads the instruction. Then the child chooses the picture that shows two. If the answer is partly right, they keep some points.
At home, sort socks into pairs with your child. Then ask: “How many are in your hand?” Also clap your hands twice as you say “one, two”. These gestures help to recognize the number 2 without counting it every time.
This game suits preschoolers aged 3 to 5. It is free online, on computer, tablet or phone.
Hold up two fingers. Say softly: “one, two”. Then look at the pictures. Look for the one that has as many objects as your raised fingers. For example, two apples are like your two fingers. Three apples are too many! Think of your two eyes and your two hands too: they come in twos. Finally, choose the right picture.
