3rd Grade Number Line Multiplication Expressions Worksheet: Equal Jumps
Three jumps of 4 land on 12, so 3 × 4 = 12. This 3rd grade number line multiplication expressions worksheet uses skip counting to build facts. A worked example numbers each jump. Then four number lines show jumps of 4, 5, 3 and 2. Your child counts the jumps, reads their size and writes the full sentence. Page two gives the answers.
Count jumps, then measure one
The first number is how many jumps. The second is how far each jump goes. In c, there are 6 jumps of 5, so 6 × 5 = 30.
The landing point gives the answer. Your child can check it on the line.
Watch the scale. Line c is marked in fives and the last line in twos, so one mark is not always 1.
At the table: number the jumps
Ask your child to write 1, 2, 3 above each arc, as in the example. A missed arc is the usual slip.
Lines b and d both stop near 8 or 9. Look closely: b makes 2 jumps of 4, d makes 3 jumps of 3.
Hop it out
Lay a tape on the floor with a mark at every step. Your child hops 3 jumps of 2 steps and says, "3 times 2 is 6."
Then swap: 2 jumps of 3. The same 6, a different trip.
