3rd Grade True or False Multiplication Worksheet: Check 12 Facts

Spotting a wrong answer takes a different kind of thinking from finding the right one. This 3rd grade true or false multiplication worksheet gives 12 finished facts. Two of them are 9 × 3 = 27 and 7 × 5 = 37. Your child solves each one and ticks True or False. The facts come from the times table for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10, with products up to 110. A boy in a red hoodie runs past the title. A second page gives the answer key.

Check the last digit first

Many false facts fail a quick test before any real calculation. A product of 5 always ends in 0 or 5, so 7 × 5 = 37 and 5 × 3 = 17 cannot be right.

A product of 10 ends in 0, and products of 2 and 4 are even. The ending digit catches the wrong answer in seconds. Then your child works out the true product: 35 and 15.

At the table: the classic slips

Item i, 3 × 3 = 6, mixes up times and plus. 3 + 3 is 6, but three groups of 3 make 9. Item c, 10 × 10 = 110, adds an extra 1; ten tens make 100.

Item f, 8 × 4 = 24, borrows the answer of a neighbor fact, 6 × 4. Ask your child to name the fact that gives 24, then find 8 × 4 = 32. Reading each fact out loud, like "eight times four", helps children hear the slip.

After the page: fix the false ones

Five facts on the page are false. Once the answer key on page two confirms the ticks, your child rewrites each of the five with the right product.

Then swap roles: write two true and two false facts for your child to sort, and let them write a few for you. Checking multiplication facts this way builds the habit of looking twice.
