3rd Grade Fixing Wrong Division Answers Worksheet: Divide by 6 to 9

Finding a mistake is good practice, but fixing it is even better. This 3rd grade fixing wrong division answers worksheet lists ten facts, labeled a to j. Every divisor is 6, 7, 8 or 9. Your child ticks True or False for each one. For every false fact, the instruction also asks for the correct answer, which turns a simple guess into a real calculation. A girl dressed as a bee smiles in the corner of the page. Page two shows each tick in red and writes the right quotient on a "Correct answer =" line.

Four true, six false

Only four facts are true: 42 ÷ 7 = 6, 56 ÷ 8 = 7, 45 ÷ 9 = 5 and 12 ÷ 6 = 2. Each one is a true number sentence, so multiplying back gives the first number again. The six false ones hide the familiar slips that children often make when they rush through a busy page of facts. In h, 81 ÷ 9 = 18 swaps the digits of the right answer, which is 9.

In b and g, 90 ÷ 9 and 70 ÷ 7 both equal 10, not 9 or 7. Items a and i both start with 18 ÷ 6, and yet both are false, because the real answer is 3 in each case. Ask your child to spot that pair.

At the table: a line for the fix

Page one asks for the correct answer, but it gives no line to write it on. So draw a short line under each pair of boxes before your child starts, or simply use the grid. On page two, that line appears as "Correct answer =", and it stays empty for the true facts.

A good habit is to find the real quotient first and only then decide. For example, 36 ÷ 6 is 6, so the fact 36 ÷ 6 = 4 must be false. As a result, every false tick already comes with its fix.

After the page: the fixing game

Write three division facts on a sheet, one of them wrong, such as 63 ÷ 7 = 8. Your child finds the false one and writes the fix, 9, next to it. Then swap roles and let your child try to trick you. Finally, check all ten answers against the answer key on page two.
