Reuse, adaptation and attribution of games
Working version: this document is being legally reviewed. Information in square brackets will be completed before final publication.
1. Purpose
Tizofun Éducation allows an author to make their educational game reusable by other members of the community.
This feature aims to encourage:
- collaboration between teachers;
- adapting resources to different school levels;
- educational differentiation;
- translation and linguistic adaptation;
- the creation of variants of the same game;
- the creation of new educational resources from existing ones.
Reuse must never cause the original author to disappear.
The fundamental principle is this: an adaptation can become a new creation, but it does not thereby become the original work.
2. The original remains identifiable
When a user creates an adaptation, Tizofun Éducation keeps the relationship between the original work, the adaptation and any later adaptations.
Each version is an identifiable creation. An adaptation never replaces, overwrites or silently modifies the original work.
3. Intellectual property
Creating an adaptation does not make the adapter the owner of the original work.
The original author keeps their rights in the elements they created and validly authorized for reuse.
The adapter may hold rights in the original contributions they add themselves, subject to the rights attached to the elements taken from the original work.
4. Attribution
Every adaptation published on Tizofun Éducation keeps a clear attribution of the original work where the reuse authorization requires it.
The adaptation shows the title of the original work and the name of its author, as well as the name of the adapter. Where possible, the original author's name links to their profile and to their work.
The adapter does not present the original work as their own creation.
5. No misleading appropriation
It is prohibited to present an adaptation as entirely original when substantial elements come from the original game.
6. No implied endorsement
Attribution only means that the resource is based on the original author's work. It does not mean that the author recommends, approves or sponsors the adaptation, unless they have actually done so.
7. Reporting
Any adaptation can be reported, in particular for one of the following reasons:
- incorrect attribution;
- content copied without authorization;
- breach of license;
- content belonging to a third party;
- unauthorized commercial use;
- misleading content;
- copyright infringement;
- inappropriate content.
Reports are handled in accordance with Tizofun Éducation's moderation policy.
